Anloga District Assembly commissions safe water extension for three communities

For years, access to safe and reliable water has been a daily challenge for households in Agbledomi-Alakope, Agbledomi-Amemeliokope and Agbledomi-Tsorgbakope.

On Tuesday 9 June, the Anloga District Assembly commissioned the SIGRA-supported water extension system for the three communities, bringing potable water closer to the people who need it most. The system is expected to serve about 1,500 residents, including approximately 900 women and 600 men.

For women and children, who most often carry responsibility for fetching water, this means less time spent walking in search of water and more time for school, livelihoods, family care and other productive activities.

The project is also an important climate adaptation investment. As communities continue to face climate-related water stress, improving access to safe water is one practical way to strengthen resilience and protect wellbeing.
