SIGRA Climate Adaptation Projects
Mion District faces serious climate challenges, including prolonged dry seasons, erratic rainfall, and extreme heat. These conditions have led to chronic water scarcity, declining agricultural productivity, and a rise in waterborne diseases. Women and girls are particularly impacted, often walking long distances to fetch water an issue that deepens existing gender inequalities and limits educational and economic opportunities. To respond to these challenges, SIGRA is supporting a climate-resilient water access project in Mion District. The project, will focus on the construction of solar- powered mechanized boreholes in three climate-vulnerable communities: Sang, Jimli, and DC Kura as part of the first of three years of grants.
